Fun with Poppie

This afternoon, Poppie was out practicing up for his big golf tournament tomorrow. Katie Lee had to join in the fun to "golf" too. She really thought that she was something big playing with Poppie.

Katie Lee called Poppie yesterday and requested that he bring her jelly beans home from work. He did not have any jelly beans so she got a jar full of chocolate covered raisins. Do you think they spoil her rotten? HA

Playing in the Rain

This morning, Katie Lee and mother played outside. It began to rain, and mother let her play out in the rain. Mother said that she got so excited and thought that it was so funny getting wet. Unfortunately, the ducks on her feet were not water proof and had to be trashed.

Ice Cream at Grammie's

Katie Lee got her first chocolate fudge pop the other day at Grammie's. She, of course, had to sit at her little table to eat her snack. She really loved it. Then later that afternoon, she walked down to Jane's and got another one. :)

Who Needs Toys

I wonder why we feel the need to buy toys for our kids. I really believe that they are just as happy with a empty shampoo bottle, a box, a pan, or anything that could break or spill or just should not be played with.
Katie Lee found a container of erasers that I had in my basket to take to school. She has been playing with the container for several days now, but tonight she decided that they should be opened. She asked me politely saying, "nice." That is her new way to have manners. I opened the container and told her that she had to sit right beside me with them and could not put them in her mouth. Well, you would have thought that I had given her the biggest toy in the world. She had so much fun taking them out of the box, counting them (one, six) and putting them back in.

Seriously, why do I ever buy toys.

Playing with the Boys

Sunday night after church, Katie Lee got to run around and play outside of church. Her favorite boys (the Teeples--James Van, Matthew, Barrett, and Jayce--all brothers 18 to 4 years old) were playing football. Well, her Sunday dress, hu-hulls(high heels), and hairbow did not slow her down to get in there and play too. She had so much fun playing with them.

Before I was a Mom...

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Happy Mother's Day!!

I love being a mother. It is something that no one can truly understand until they are one. It has to be the best thing in the world.

Well, today is the day to celebrate all of the mother's in the world. Our house is no different. I have been reminding Donnie that it was coming up and telling Katie Lee that she and Daddy needed to get Mommy a necklace. NeckNeck is what she would tell him. Donnie quickly told me that he was not my mother and Katie Lee was too little to have any money to buy me anything. So, I found a really pretty necklace at TJ Maxx Tuesday. Katie Lee and I got it that day and I told Donnie it could be her gift for me.

Well, this morning he could not wait to wake Katie Lee up which is something we try not to do because she is much happier if she gets her nap out. Well, 8:15 he could not wait anymore. Quickly the two of them came back into our bedroom and Katie Lee was bringing in a Hobbs bag. I so wish that I had my camera. She was holding the bag out and so sweetly smiling at me saying. "Mama open." We hopped back on the bed to see what it was. Well, it was the prettiest necklace ever. Donnie had gotten me a tanzanite and diamond necklace. He said that it will be Mother's Day and Anniversary. I think that it should also count for birthday and Christmas too. Anyway, I got a great gift from two very special people.

Katie Lee's new cousin

Kathryn called last night to inform me that I was an aunt. I could not believe it, but I knew that she had taken off yesterday so it all made since.

Well, before I could get too excited and even tell Donnie the news, she goes on to explain that I am an aunt to a baby kitten. That completely changed my mood. A mother cat had kittens under Kathryn and Zeb's house, and one of the kittens got stuck in the foundation of the house (they live in a 100 year old house), and the mother cat left it. Zeb crawled under and found the kitten last night. They were very glad that it was a kitten (Not a snake like the one that she found in her bathroom one morning and then Zeb got carried away with the moth balls under the house, or a skunk like Mother and Daddy had under their house a few months ago.) It was only a gray and white baby kitten. They think that it may be about 2 weeks out, and Zeb is feeding it from a little bottle.

Tonight after going out to eat, we took Katie Lee up to see the kitten. They named it Dusty since it was so dusty when Zeb pulled it out. Katie Lee could not wait to see the MeeMe (that is what she calls all cats). We thought that she might be a little scared of it. Wrong!! She was so excited that she would just shake her hands. Bless that poor kitten's heart. She just about squeezed it to death. (Remember Of Mice and Men) She really loved it and had so much fun playing with it. We have decided that she is NOT ready for a pet. She can just play with that cat.

Not sure why the pictures are so blurred. It may be because she was not still the entire time.

Girl After My Own Heart

From time to time, I get on these spells to get rid of junk, and it usually ends with me throwing away something that gets me in trouble with Donnie. Well, I have been on this kick for about a month or so now, and I think that I must be rubbing off on Katie Lee. Katie Lee is always talking about who makes "A Mess" which is always "Dada" or "Pop Pop." Well, she has been talking about "Dada's mess" outside for a week now. He left the planter countainers out by the gargage where he plans to dig up some flowers and place it in. I guess Katie Lee was tired of seeing his mess and decided to be like me and take manners into her own hands. She picked them all up this afternoon and threw them in the garbage while he was washing the car and not really paying her any attention. (For the record, I in no way encourage or persauded her to do this.) The entire time she is taking care of business she is saying, "Dada, mess mess". I could not help but laugh at her. That's my girl!! :)

Watch out Poppie, your dirty shoes may be next!!

Lunch with the Girls

Today we treated Mother to lunch for Mother's Day. Last year we went to Victoria's and had planned on going there this year, but they are no longer open on Saturdays. We went to The Corner in Decatur. Well as soon as we walked in, Katie Lee picked out what she wanted. The waitress came to take our order and Katie Lee quickly told her, "milk and that" (pointing to the cupcakes). I told her that she could have one after we ate lunch. She however wanted to be French or a Hodges and eat dessert first. She got her cupcake with the pink ring and was just so excited. She did eat all of the ham and cheese off of my sandwich along with her cupcake so no harm was done. Mother, Kathryn, and I ate our lunch with no dessert and it was really good.
