You are my Sunshine

This afternoon, Donnie and I took Katie Lee to Noby's farm to take some pictures with the acres of sunflowers. I have watched these sunflowers grow all summer and they are just beautiful. Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Fun in the Sun

Tuesday, Katie Lee and I met some of the other teachers that I work with at Mrs. H's home for a swim and lunch. We had a great time and a delicious lunch. Katie Lee loved the pool and climbing on the deck. Thanks Mrs. H for the invite.

Pepper Jelly

Today, Mother and I made Pepper Jelly. Donnie planted a bunch of peppers this year--which we don't even eat. Anyway, so our solution was pepper jelly. I had forgotten how easy and fast it is to make. Here are some pictures of our finished product and the recipe.
Pepper Jelly
3/4 c. green bell pepper
1/4c. hot peppers
1 1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
6 c. sugar
4 oz. Certo
green food coloring
Mince peppers. Combine in a saucepan with vinegar and sugar. Bring to rolling boil. Remove from heat. Add Certo and food coloring. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
Wonderful to eat with cream cheese and crackers

Think she is ready?

Today we visited Aunt Kitty's classroom to see what all she has gotten finished. Of course, Katie Lee had a great time especially when she got to be out of her stroller to explore--which meant climb on all of the little chairs. How cute is she in these pictures!! :) Do you think she is ready for school? I do have to brag a little--she can do the motions to the song The Wheels on the Car and she can waddle and quack her hands like a duck. She learned this with the songs that they sing in her class at church. She also knows how to pretend like she is eating and will give you a bite. Pretty smart don't you think.

Eat it or wear it!

Do you remember the kids book Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing? The baby in the story wouldn't eat so his daddy told him to eat it or wear it. Well, Katie Lee is having no trouble eating, but tonight she was eating supper and decided she needed to feed herself. This is not something that I usually let her do unless it is something that is not messy, but I let her try it out. Anyway, she had spaghetti tonight and fed herself. What a mess!!! She had it all over her face, hands, and arms. She loved it and ate really good.

Grade level lunch

Today, the fourth grade team came over for lunch. It was great catching up with all of them and finding out how their summer is going. Julie brought baby A with her. He is just too cute. Katie Lee really liked him--as long as I wasn't the one holding him.
Later tonight, we were talking and I was talking about him. She said Aydan!! Can you believe it? She ended up saying it 3 times. She can't say MaMa, but she can say Aydan. How funny is that!!!

Check this out

Hi all, I found a new blog from a friend's blog. Anyway, this lady is really smart. She created church bags for each of her kids to keep them quite and busy during church. Check it out at http://allenfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2008/07/and-now-for-something-completely.html
She is also having a contest and a giveaway. :)

Tea Party Lunch

I did not get the pictures for all of the delicious foods from our party today on the other entry, so here they are. Oh, if you never had tomato and biscuits before, you should really try them. It is not as good unless you have real biscuits--the ones you make from scratch. Enjoy!!!

Tea Party

Today we had a "Tea Party" lunch at Kathryn's. We had the most wonderful foods including: tomato and biscuits, cucumber sandwiches, cherry/pineapple sandwiches, chicken salad cups, chocolate covered strawberries, tea cakes with chocolate, and of course, tea, but not the kind you may have at a real tea party ---we had real southern sweet ice tea. :) Kathryn had everything set up so pretty. Katie Lee had a ball. If you notice in the pictures, she did wait until we finished eating before she helped herself to a tea cake. She thought that she was really something especially since she does not get to eat sweets too often.

Gardening with Daddy

Tonight when Donnie got home, he took Katie Lee with him to him pick the vegetables from the garden. She had so much fun playing in the dirt and following after him.

It's almost time...

Can you believe that it is almost time to go back to school? I do believe that this year has been even shorter. Maybe, it is because I have had a lot more fun this summer--playing with Katie Lee.

I spent last Thursday and today working on my classroom. I was determined to get it fixed in two days so I could spend all of my last days at home with Katie Lee. Anyway, I am really proud of how it looks. Last year I did not spend as much time on it because I knew that I would be off work for a while and I was 40 weeks pregnant.
Here are a few pics of the before and after.

SSM Lunch

Today, Katie Lee and I met up with the SSM bunch for lunch at LuVici's in Athens. Long story on how the SSM formed and what it stands for, but these are a group of wonderful ladies that I work with. They are the best bunch of friends and would do anything for you. I am so glad to have them in my life.
Anyway, we had a wonderful lunch and got caught up on summer events. Can you believe we have to go back to work in just a few weeks? The 31st of July. Summers seem to get shorter and shorter each year. It was great to catch up with all the girls.

Just the Girls

Today we spent the day in Fayetteville. We shopped Sirs for fabric and all of the antique stores around the square. We even took some time to play under the trees around the courthouse.

4th of July

Our fourth was relaxing and easy. We stayed home most of the day. All three of us home all day!! That never seems to happen. It was so nice. We played with Katie Lee and Donnie got a lot done in his garden. Then that night we went to Mother and Daddy's for a cook out. Lots of yummy food! After we ate, we went to town to watch the fireworks. Katie Lee watched some of the fireworks, but had more fun playing in the back of the Trailblazer.

"Leanne Needs"

I was blog surfing and came across FunkyMonkey and this fun little game...so I am copying.Visit Google and Google your name and the word "needs", all in quotations...."Leanne Needs"LOL the results are hilarious.....

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Katie Lee has decided to take up climbing this week. It doesn't matter the height, the structure, or how stable the object is. A few weeks ago, she climbed into the drawer under the oven. Then she climbed on the chair and ottoman at Mother and Daddy's. Yesterday, she decided to tackle the steps on the back and front porches (no pictures of that, I was too worried that she would fall off) and in her little car. Then today, she started the morning climbing on the cable box, then into the basket of toys, and then on the red rocker. She not only climbed in the rocker but then stood and clapped at her success. I wonder what will be next?
