Cool Summer Night

Since last night cooled off so much, we decided to take Katie Lee to the Kiddie Carnival. She simply LOVES riding the rides.

Summer Fun!

Since summer vacation is swiftly passing us by, Amanda and I thought that a day at Point Mallard with the girls would be fun. I have not been in YEARS (about 20)!! It was great. The weather was perfect and it was not too crowded. The girls had so much fun!! We may try to get in one more trip before summer is over.

Parties

Saturday night, we attended Kynsley and Anna Beth's 3rd birthday party. We all had so much fun.

The birthday day girls.

sliding fun

Are they too big and old to jump?
HA! Before the night was over, I think every guy flipped into the pit!!

It Was Bound To Happen

Katie Lee climbed out of her baby bed. Yes, I know she is almost 3 and I am sure that she could have for well over a year now if she wanted to bad enough, but she hadn't. Tonight was the night. Donnie had not gotten home yet and Katie Lee was super sleepy due to no nap today. I read her her story, prayed for everyone, got a drink of water, and then tucked her into bed. She did not want to go even though she was so sleepy. I had gone to take a bath and could hear her crying. I figured that she would stop and be a sleep in just a few minutes. Well, the next thing I know she is standing beside the bathtub with her sweetest of smiles. I asked her how she got out of bed and she just smiled and said ever so matter of fact, " I climbed out real carefully mommy." Trying to hide my laugh I had to get on to her and tell her how dangerous that was and how she should never do that again. I had really planned on her staying in the baby bed until we move just because there is not a lot of room for a big bed in this house, but I may have to break down and put a big girl bed up.

What Do You Get

when you get four sisters,
lots of yummy salads,
and daughters and granddaughters together?

A whole lot of fun. Today, Kathryn hosted a salad lunch for all of us. It was wonderful!! It is great getting together with everyone.

(Side note: I some how missed getting a picture of Paige, but she was there looking cute as always, too.)

Pool Time

If you ever look at the other blogs I follow on the right side of my page, you will see Miss Janice. She is this cute, preppy southern lady who has a thing for style. She always post about what she wears. It is always pink and green and super preppy usually Lily. She is also an expect at etiquette. Today I thought I would do a Katie Lee version of "What did I wear."

Here's what Katie Lee wore.

A bright pink butterfly hairbow--made by me a couple years ago
Pink ballerina swimsuit--from Tar-jay---that is what Miss Janice calls it
Purple heart rainboots--from Wal-Mart
Pink Dora sunglasses --gift
Katie Lee has this thing lately about wearing odd shoes, so as long as it is at home or where it really doesn't matter she can go for it.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Last night Amanda and the girls came over for supper and to play. Katie Lee and Lillian had so much fun. Abby hung in with the big girls just fine too.

First Trim

Yesterday was Katie Lee's first hair trim. I really had not thought about it being one of those firsts, but when Kelly handed me the first little bit of hair that she cut so I could put it in her baby book, it made me so sad. It wasn't because I was upset over the cut but the fact that she is growing up so fast. I cannot believe that she will be three in just a few weeks. Where has the time gone? It was just one of those reminders to slow down and enjoy every minute of her being little.

Back to the trim. I was a little worried about how she would do. She really does not like to have her hair combed. She is super tender headed. Anyway, Kelly cut mine first then it was Katie Lee's turn. She said that she didn't want to, but thanks to Ms. Kelly who had a trick or two up her sleeve, she loved it! She took Katie Lee into the back and when she came back with a pink balloon in hand she was all ready for the trim. By the time it was over, she had decided that she needed a cape at home with fish on it so she could wear it when I fix her hair.

Just because....

I think that it is cute.

Progress Report

Well, we are in about month 7 of house building. It has been a little on the slow side for the last month. We need the trim to be put up on the inside so that the rest can get moving. We hope that next week that will get full attention.

All of the brick except for steps and a few windows are complete. The siding and shutters are up and look great.

a little trim has been started
cabinet bases are in and look GREAT!!! I cannot wait to see it all finished!

A Visiting We Will Go

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon visiting with my SSM "sisters" for our before school begins lunch. While I was enjoying catching up with everyone, Donnie and Katie Lee did some visiting too. They visited several of the elderly ladies that Donnie grew up going to church with. Katie Lee took them all flowers and I think made their day.

Granny Kat--This is Donnie's aunt who is a lot like his Granny.
Ms. Pack
Ms. Flossie--She goes to church with us at Holland's Gin. She is well into her 80's and is at church 3 times a week. She had a stroke a couple weeks ago, but she says she feels better now than she did before. She is a real go getter and a true encourager to us.
They also visited with Uncle Virg. but did not get a picture.

Little Get Away

This week is a vacation week for Donnie. We decided that we wanted to get away for a day or two. I wanted to go back to the beach but Donnie didn't want to drive too far. I guess when you drive hundreds of miles each day for work, your idea of a vacation doesn't include a lot of driving. Anyway, we settled on going to the Shoals Marriott Resort. It is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails and RSA members get great discounts. (This makes it even better.) It is just beautiful and makes you feel like you are far away from home even though it was just an hour away. They have a super pool ideal for little ones. Katie Lee could not wait to show her daddy how well she can swim now.

Jumping on the bed is always a treat..

On Tuesday, we headed to the Splash Pad Park beside the resort.
She was so excited (notice the height of the water)
Ready to play (water gets a little higher)
The water got much higher than the picture below
so she would not even get in the water. (It got a good 12 feet high which is pretty scary for someone about 3 ft. high.) Katie Lee quickly decided that the playground would be just as much fun.
