This and That

Hope all have had a good week. Mine has been busy!
Monday and Tuesday I worked on my classroom at school. I am pleased with how it looks this year. Here is a look at a few things.

This is my reading focus wall. Kathryn shared this idea with me from another website. We both thought it would be useful. Well, it must be the buzz thing at reading workshops this summer (which I haven't attended). Several teachers came by and said that they saw them and wanted to copy my idea. Thanks sister!! :)
This is my new favorite. This will be part of math block each day. I will use it along with Drops in the Bucket.
Can't forget writing since it is tested in 5th. You got to get them ready while they are in the 4th.

This is just the back wall of my classroom, I will try to add the other 3 walls later. In case any teachers reads this and can gain an idea. I always like looking at other teacher's rooms.

Wednesday, I took Katie Lee to storytime. The Golden Age Band was singing for the senior citizens, so the little ones joined in on a couple of songs. That band may be golden but they are young at heart.

Thursday was a workshop day for me so Katie Lee spent another day with Grammie. That night Aunt Kitty went out to eat with us. She also brought Katie Lee a new game.

Today, we ran errands for things for the house. I will give an update on all of the progress this week later. I also worked on these. Check back later to see what it is all about.

Make-up

After church last night, Donnie and Katie Lee headed to see Virg. They had to stop at the Dollar General to get some stuff for him, and Katie Lee came home with her own real make-up. Boy was she excited!! She was decorating herself at 10:00 last night. I think she will need a few lessons in applying just the right amount in the right places. HA

Park Picnic

Yesterday, we had a picnic for storytime at the Rural Village in Elkmont. It was so HOT!!! Katie Lee or any of the other kids, of course, didn't let the heat slow them down. They had so much fun playing especially on the big slide.

Celebration Continues

and so does the food!! I think I should exercise or fast (HA) from all of the wonderful food we've eaten over the last few days. Yesterday was no different. We continued our 4th weekend.

We spent most of the day playing outside at home. I had gotten some finger paint from the dollar bin at Target last week for Katie Lee to use. She paints a lot but never with her fingers. She loved it!!

We had a picnic lunch under the shade trees. I love the shade trees at this house.
Last night we headed back to Mother and Daddy's for supper.

Aunt Kitty and Uncle Wez had finally come home from vacation. Katie Lee was so excited to see her and of course get her surprise. She also had to try out the horn on Aunt Kitty's new car.

Then it was off to see the fireworks in town.


We finished our long weekend of fun with homemade peach ice cream.

4th of July Weekend

I am really enjoying this long weekend and am looking forward to more fun today.

Sunday night after church we ate traditional 4th of July Casa Blanca and ended with dessert at Jane and Gary's. I wish I had gotten pictures because KL loved hanging out with the big girls.

Happy Fourth

Hope all is having a wonderful 4th weekend. We are having a great time. Yesterday we had a yard sale here at the house with the Suttons. We did great! I got rid of a lot!!! Last night we ate supper with Mother and Daddy. Donnie had gotten ribs, Bar-b-Q, and chicken. Everything was wonderful. I made dessert, Frozen Banana Split. It is a no bake recipe which is my favorite kind especially in the summer. It is a Paula Deen recipe and it was pretty good.

Ingredients

• 24 (3.5-ounce) ice-cream sandwiches, unwrapped
• 6 medium bananas, peeled and thinly sliced
• 1 (12.25-ounce) jar hot-fudge sauce
• 1 (10-ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained and finely chopped
• 1 (8-ounce) package milk chocolate covered toffee bits, divided
• 1 (12.25-ounce) jar butterscotch ice-cream topping
• 1 (8-ounce) container frozen nondairy whipped topping, thawed

Directions

Line a 13 by 9-inch baking pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil.

Place half of ice-cream sandwiches evenly over bottom of pan, completely covering bottom, cutting sandwiches to fit, if necessary. Top evenly with banana slices. Pour hot fudge sauce over bananas. Top with cherries and 1/2 of the toffee bits and pour butterscotch evenly on top. Layer with remaining ice cream sandwiches and spread whipped topping over sandwiches; sprinkle with remaining toffee bits.

Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours. Remove from pan, using foil handles. Cut into squares and serve.

Lake Winnie

Our trip to Lake Winnie proved to be lots of fun. Katie Lee was so excited all week talking about this trip and she was not disappointed.

The turn for Lake Winnie is 5 lights from the interstate. Katie Lee made it to the 2nd red light before falling asleep and did not even want her milkshake.

We had a great time and look forward to many more trips here.

Slumber Party

Last night we headed to Chattanooga after Donnie got off work to meet up with Chris, Amanda, and Lillian for our day at Lake Winnie. We got to the hotel just in time for a little bit of fun before bedtime. Those girls giggled and squealed so much. Can you imagine how they will be in a few years when the real slumber parties start?
