Katie Lee's Ride

Recently on one of Katie Lee's visits across the yard to Jane and Gary's house for a candy bar and orange juice, she spotted something in their building out back. She asked in her "nice please" way if Gary would get it out of the building for her. Well, it just happens to be the right size for one little three year old.

Mary Kaitlyn's old bike is now just the right size for Katie Lee.
Thanks to Aunt Jane for knocking the spider webs and dust off of it, and Uncle Gary for putting air in the tires and lowering the seat. It is just right!!

Parties, Parties, Parties

Saturday was full of parties for us. Mother, Kathryn and I attended the Jessica Elkins Tea Party. Katie Lee and Donnie attended James' 3rd birthday party. Both were wonderful!
I got to James' party at the end. All of the rain that day did not stop them from having a ton of fun. All the little girls were jumping in mud puddles. Katie Lee told me that they were little pigs. She had a ball. Anything involving getting wet and playing in the rain is right up her alley.

The tea party was very pretty. It just amazes me at all of the different ideas for tablescapes. Kathryn's table was beautiful. I should have let her be a guest blogger and describe her table, or she could just start her blog back up again, (HINT HINT, sissy) Anyway, she set a blue and white table. It was gorgeous as always.

Here are a few of the other tables.

Historic Grassmere

The land that the zoo in Nashville is located on was once the Grassmere Farm. Two old sisters lived and ran this farm. The home was well over 200 years old. When the ladies died, they left the farm to the city of Nashville to be used to take care of animals. The city turned it into the zoo. The home site and farm are still standing today. It was quite odd seeing this old house along with animals from Africa and other parts of the world.

Katie Lee's Favorite Parts of the Zoo Trip

On the way home from the zoo, we asked Katie Lee what was her favorite part of seeing the zoo. She quickly referred back to her map which she "read" and kept us going in the right directions all day and said that it was petting the goat and the park. I just laughed because both of those we could have done right here.

This was by far my least favorite play area of any place that we have been. It was very closed up and very maze like, so it was hard to see where Katie Lee was going. Donnie spent a lot of time inside while I stayed on the outside trying to keep an eye on her.

I think that it was suited for older kids. (meaning elementary age children)

They did have a great jumping area that was perfect for kids her age.

She loved brushing the goats. This surprised me because she doesn't even like dogs.

Zoo Trip

We had a family day at the Zoo in Nashville.

This started out as a trip for Katie Lee, Grammie, and Poppie.

Donnie and I decided to tag along, too.
I don't remember the last time I ever went to a zoo and it was a first for Katie Lee. We had a wonderful time and got to see so many different animals.
Hyacinth Macaw
Apes at Gibbon Islands
Poppie and Katie Lee getting a closer look
at the Meerkats.
Rhino Hornbill
Katie Lee checking out the animals from from the Unseen New World.

Zebra
Ostrich
Elephants. These big guys were very hard to see because they were far away from the viewing area and they camouflage perfectly with the rocks. Katie Lee never could find them.
Checking out the sights with Grammie.
Masai giraffe---Katie Lee picked out her outfit to match with this fellow.
Thanks Grammie and Poppie for a wonderful day!
