Tea Time with the Girls

Today, we went to Homestead Manor Plantation in Franklin, TN.

to sip some tea (or water with lemon)

and have a yummy lunch

and dessert of little purple chick cookies
or chocolate cake
with our two favorite ladies, Grammie and Aunt Kitty (sorry Kathryn, I didn't get a picture with you.)
It was nice to slow down and smell the buttercups. I am really enjoying my spring break...

Painting 101

Tonight, some of the girls from church got together for a painting class in Huntsville. I am not sure if any of us have painted much before. It ended up being a lot of fun and a bit stressful at times. My painting is not close to being as good as the teacher's but not too bad for the first time. I look forward to the next time we can do this.

Moving on Up

Our house is moving right along. James has actually expanded the upstairs a lot more than the plans called for which has given up much more space up there. I am really beginning to start visualizing how it will look whenever we move in.

Daddy's Prize

Saturday, Donnie and my uncle Steve went to Dalton, GA to this big knife show. This is one of Donnie's favorite events of the year. It just about ranks up there with opening day of dove season. He has been planning this trip for weeks.

When he got home Saturday night and got his new ones cleaned up and put with the others, Katie Lee had to inspect his finds. Her favorite one of course was her own, the pink one because it was her favorite color. Donnie always gets her one when he goes to these shows. I don't really think that she will be an avid knife collector but maybe they will at least be special because they came from her daddy.

Happy Pi Day

In honor of Pi. You remember it from high school..... 3.14something

Today I made this....

It is called Just Another Pie.
It was super easy because I followed The Pioneer Woman.http://thepioneerwoman.com/
If you have never checked out her blog before, it is great. I have yet to find anything that is not delicious. I also made her ranch chicken and potatoes for lunch today too.

A Little Shopping

Seems like not a lot has happened post worthy in a while. It has just been a very busy week. We just finished our third nine weeks of school and Spring Break has started. I am really looking forward to the week. I hope that my kids don't forget everything by the time we go back because ARMT and SAT10 begins the week we return.

I do hope to have some new pictures of our house to post soon. It is moving along. We went to the Home and Garden Show last Sunday and got a lot of ideas.

We have managed to get a little shopping in over the last week. Last Saturday, Mother, Kathryn, Katie Lee, and I headed to Birmingham to Cottontails. Oh, I could have spent and spent and spent.
This was the best part of the day for Katie Lee.

Is this not the prettiest rocky horse? The man had several beautiful ones and Katie Lee loved them. He was nice enough to let me take her picture on it. His business is called Horses that Rock and he is located in Aliceville, AL. If anyone is interested in one, I have his contact information.

Another new favorite gift shop is Two Sisters in Harvest. It is very convenient to school. I got this from there yesterday. Thanks to Mother and Daddy for the Valentine's and Easter money and I used for it.

C is for Cupcakes

After a sickly week for Katie Lee, she was feeling much better by the weekend. She stills has a terrible cough that may last until summer if she is like me, but other than that I think she is fine. Saturday looked like such a nice day to get out for a little while. We called Aunt Kitty to see if she wanted to go eat lunch with us. I told Katie Lee that I was going to take her for a special lunch at a cupcake restaurant. She was so excited about the idea of getting a cupcake. (You would think that the poor girl never gets any.) So off we went to pick up Aunt Kitty and to get lunch. The sandwiches were really good. I had turkey and they both had ham. We all gobbled those up. My combo meal came with a cupcake that Katie Lee got to pick out. I wish that I had my camera. She was so excited looking through the glass at the yummy looking cupcakes. Anyway, she enjoyed it. She ate the icing off of it. Aunt Kitty and I ate the cake part which we were both sadden by the fact that it tasted more like corn bread. We decided our cupcakes were much better, and for $2.00 a little cake we could get rich. HA!

After lunch, we went to Huntsville to our favorite place.

Katie Lee was excited. Boy have we trained her well. She sang her Hobby Lobby song as soon as we turned in. Aunt Kitty let her pick our cupcake holders for some good cupcakes.

Last night, Aunt Kitty had Katie Lee Dora cupcakes ready. They were much better than the cornbread ones the day before.
